Israel creates a buffer zone on the border with the Gaza Strip

According to Haaretz, the Israel Defense Forces are establishing a security buffer zone around the Gaza Strip border, which could occupy almost 16% of the beleaguered enclave’s land.

According to satellite photos published in the newspaper, the zone will be roughly one kilometer wide and all the buildings in the area will be demolished.

The news source further stated that Israel intends to divide the enclave into its northern and southern halves.

In order to regulate civilian traffic, the Israelis are building the Netzarim Corridor, another unique buffer zone. In that region, after the buffer zone along the border is established, the Gaza Strip’s breadth will only be 5.5 kilometers.

On October 7, 2023, terrorists from the extremist Palestinian organization Hamas, which is located in Gaza, conducted an unexpected assault into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, sparking fresh tensions in the Middle East.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City was the target of Israeli authorities’ harsh activities, which prompted Hamas to launch its attack.

Israel has retaliated by declaring war, announcing a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, which is home to 2.3 million Palestinians, and starting airstrikes on the enclave as well as certain areas of Syria and Lebanon. These actions will be followed by a ground assault inside the enclave. There are also ongoing conflicts on the West Bank.
