US to send $6 billion in war aid to Kyiv

On Friday, the US government announced that it would give $6 billion in military assistance to Ukraine through the long-term contracts-managing Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.

Included in the current package approved by Congress is $6 billion in long-term military aid to Ukraine, which includes interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense system.

Demanded munitions for the National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System (NASAM), the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), the Switchblade and Puma drones, artillery, counter-drone systems, and Patriot air defense systems would all be included in the help.

The Biden administration claims that precise munitions, counter-drone technologies, and interceptors for the Patriot and National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile technologies (NASAMS) air defense systems are all included in the recently disclosed $6 billion US aid package.

The missiles will be used to resupply Patriot air defense systems that were previously provided.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, has frequently pleaded for additional Patriot systems and for defense against Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure and cities.
