Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for more women in science for a just, inclusive future

For a fair, inclusive, and sustainable future, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has emphasized the importance of increasing the number of women and girls in science.

“We must have the right policies and institutions for young women to choose a career in science and technology,” she said.

During the 9th International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly in New York, she made a video statement that was aired.

“It’s critical that women in science are given leadership roles. “I personally pledge to advance the work of our female scientists in Bangladesh by providing incentives and recognition,” the speaker stated.

“I congratulate all women engaged in research and innovation to find solutions to the challenges facing our world,” she added, extending her welcome to everyone in the assembly. More girls and women in science are needed.”

The prime minister claimed that thousands of Bangladeshi women and girls are being given digital empowerment by her government.

“I feel delighted to see their vibrant presence in the digital marketplace. We offer dedicated training for young women to help them grow as IT freelancers,” she said.

The premier wished to see her country’s young people with disabilities transform their lives through digital inclusion.

“Our government is expanding technical and vocational education for women to help them prepare for the future of work. We have made it mandatory for all high school graduates to get an education in science and ICT,” she added.

In the past, the number of female students in higher education, especially in science and technology, was not satisfactory, she said.

However, the Prime Minister noted that as a result of our coordinated efforts, women’s participation in science education has increased dramatically in recent years.

According to her, the ratio of female students in Bangladesh’s public universities is approximately 40%, whereas the percentage in private universities is 30%.

According to her, they make sure that women are given preference when applying for funds for innovation and research.

“Our young girls need to be prepared to realize our vision of a ‘Smart Bangladesh’. I shall always remain devoted to women’s and girls’ education in science and technology,” she said.
