Bangladesh signs MoU with Sinopharm, Incepta for vaccine co-production

The Bangladesh government has inked a tripartite agreement for the co-production of Covid-19 vaccines with Sinopharm of China and Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd of Bangladesh.

On behalf of their respective sides, Health Minister Zahid Maleque, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming, and Incepta Chairman Abdul Muktadir signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Incepta will bring in bulk vaccine materials before bottling, labeling, and completing the vaccinations locally, according to the MoU. This method is substantially less expensive than purchasing ready-to-use immunizations.

Bangladesh plans to scale up immunization in the next days, with a local pharmaceutical company poised to start making the Covid-19 vaccine as soon as feasible.

According to experts, the Sinopharm vaccine is easier to keep than other Covid-19 vaccines, making it easier for the government to distribute it in rural areas.
