Chadians start voting in the presidential election

Monday marked the start of the presidential election in Chad, which opponents of junta leader Mahamat Idriss Deby called a sham despite the election’s purported goal of removing military rule.

Only a small number of voters were gathering elsewhere in the city, N’Djamena, according to AFP reporters who observed electors trickling into a voting location in Ndjambal Ngato, close to the presidency.
