Above 200 NGOs have called for an arms embargo on Myanmar

More than 200 NGOs have called on the United Nations to impose an “arms embargo” on Myanmar to prevent junta aggression.

Voluntary and human rights organizations, led by Amnesty International, have submitted a draft proposal to the United Nations. They allege that army members have been killing unarmed civilians indiscriminately since the coup. The ban needs to be imposed on them to stop using arbitrary weapons.

If the UN implements the decision, no country will be able to sell a single bullet, let alone a heavy weapon, to Myanmar.

The army took control of Myanmar in a coup on February 1. Since then, at least 60 people have died in the violence; More than 4 thousand people are prisoners.
