Awami League cohorts trying to destabilize country, but terrorists cannot stand anywhere: Jahangir

The dead Awami League (AL) members are out to cause instability in the country, according to Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.). However, as the terrorists are unable to remain in one place, law enforcement has been urged to increase patrols around the nation.

“Awami League’s cohorts are trying all kinds of things to destabilize the country. They will in no way be spared. We will ensure that terrorists cannot stand anywhere and prevent crimes at any cost,” he said.

Around three in the morning today, the Home Affairs Adviser made the statements during an emergency press conference at his Baridhara DOHS mansion regarding the nation’s law and order crisis.

He claimed that in order to cause instability in the nation, the AL allies are exploiting the enormous sums of money that have been taken out of it.

“The government will not allow this to happen under any circumstances. It will be prevented no matter what,” he asserted.

Stating that the law enforcement agencies have been instructed to increase patrol activities, the adviser said that from tomorrow (Monday), they will take measures to ensure that no crime occurs anywhere.

“And if the law enforcement agencies cannot implement this instruction, action will also be taken against them. The law and order situation will improve day by day. There is no possibility of deterioration,” the adviser added.

In response to a query, nasty things are occurring all throughout the nation, but why aren’t the offenders being taken into custody? There are arrests being made,” Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated.

For instance, three Savar residents have already been taken into custody for bus robberies.

The fight against criminals is still going strong.

When asked about the call for his resignation during a demonstration at Dhaka University, Jahangir responded that the students wanted law and order to be improved.

“If I can improve the reasons for which they asked me to resign, then there is no question of resignation.

They want the law and order situation to improve. I am making arrangements for the law and order situation to improve.

The law and order situation has improved a lot and it will continue to improve,” he said.

In reply to a question about the worry of the women students about their safety in the context of crimes against women, especially rape, the Home Adviser said, “I will tell my mothers and sisters have no reason to fear.

We are always concerned about them and we are always vigilant to ensure that they do not face any kind of problem. The law enforcement agencies are also always vigilant in this regard.”

The Home Adviser said the nationwide crackdown ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ will continue to make sure the terrorists cannot sleep, sit or stand anywhere.

In responding to a question, he said the law and order situation has improved a lot and would improve further.

Against the backdrop of increasing criminal acts using motorbikes, the Home Adviser has asked the law enforcement agencies to ensure the enforcement of a prior order that no more than two people with helmets can ride on a motorbike to stop the recurrence of such crimes.
