Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, has declared that he will soon meet with Xi Jinping, the president of China.
“Rather soon we will have some events and there will be a meeting with Chairman of the People’s Republic of China [Xi Jinping],” the Russian president said on Friday during an open lecture entitled “Conversations about what matters.”
Putin acknowledged that he is a buddy to the Chinese president. “I am happy to call him my friend because this is a man who personally is doing a great deal for the development of Russian-Chinese relations, in various spheres at that,” the Russian president said.
The head of state also promised to discuss with Xi what else can be done on this track after one audience member raised a question about prospects to increase humanitarian engagement between Russia and China.
According to earlier reports, Putin would go to China for the Belt and Road Forum in October.
