In an effort to streamline the visa application process, Home Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) today launched the online application for foreign nationals seeking a Transit Visa or Visa on Arrival (VoA).
“We have launched the App so that foreign nationals can get visas on arrival easily,” he said.
After launching the Online APP in the Home Ministry conference room at the Secretariat here, he told reporters that foreigners now receive their visas in five to ten minutes instead of the forty to an hour it used to take.
According to him, the foreign national will need to use the web app to submit an application with the required information in order to receive the facility. Once the process is finished, they will receive a code.
“They will get an on-arrival visa to Bangladesh after showing the code and paying the money (the visa processing fee) in dollars. The foreigners will get an arrival visa for 30 days,” he said.
The foreigners can pay the money both in cash and card, he said.
People with passports from the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Russian Federation, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey, Brunei, and European nations who are traveling to Bangladesh for official, business, investment, or tourism purposes only may be granted entry visas by immigration officials at international airports and land ports after they have verified the required paperwork and are fully satisfied.
After confirming his appropriateness for travel, a person who enters Bangladesh from a nation other than his own, where there isn’t an embassy, may be granted an entry visa.
In the case of foreign citizens of Bangladeshi origin, their spouses/wives and children, an entry visa may be issued based on the Bangladeshi citizenship certificate/certificate of the Bangladeshi origin concerned.
