The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has cancelled the directorship of its former president, Nazmul Hassan Papon, along with 10 other directors. This decision was made during the 15th meeting of the Board of Directors last night.
The directors affected include Manzur Kader, A.J.M. Nasir Uddin, Sheikh Sohel, Advocate Anwarul Islam, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, Ismail Haider Mallick, Tanvir Ahmed (Titu), Obeid Rashid Nizam, Gazi Golam Murtoza, and Nazib Ahmed. Their positions were vacated in accordance with the BCB Constitution due to their absence from three or more consecutive meetings, as stated in a BCB press release.
Additionally, the Board accepted the resignations of directors Naimur Rahman Durjoy, Khaled Mahmud, and Enayet Husain Siraj. To ensure the BCB remains functional and responsive to contemporary needs, the Board has decided to form a Constitution Amendment Committee. This committee, headed by BCB Director Nazmul Abedeen as convener, will assess the current BCB Constitution, identify areas for improvement, and propose amendments that align with the strategic goals and evolving needs of the BCB.
In a significant move to enhance athlete training, the Board has approved the establishment of three fully equipped modern gyms at the Test venues in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet.
