The US military said on Friday that it had destroyed two Huthi surface vessels in the Red Sea that were unmanned, along with one drone and seven radars that the rebels were using to target ships.
Since November, the Huthis, who hold a majority of Yemen, with support from Iran, have conducted many drone and missile strikes into the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, claiming that these are acts of vengeance for the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated on social media that “forces successfully destroyed one uncrewed aerial system” that was launched over the Red Sea on the previous day.
It said that in a region of Yemen under Huthi control, US forces also destroyed “seven Iranian-backed” Huthi radars and two unmanned surface vessels.
The radars allowed the Huthis “to target maritime vessels and endanger commercial shipping,” CENTCOM said.
“It was determined these systems presented an imminent threat to U.S., coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region,” CENTCOM said in the post.
The Huthis of Yemen claimed ownership of two unmanned surface ships in the Red Sea, and the US military claimed on Friday that it had destroyed them along with a drone and seven radars that the rebels were using to attack ships.
Under the pretext of retribution for the Israel-Hamas conflict, the Huthis, who hold sway over a large portion of Yemen, have been launching several drone and missile strikes into the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden since November.

According to the report, in a region of Yemen under Huthi control, US forces also destroyed two Huthi unmanned surface vessels and “seven Iranian-backed” Huthi radars.
Yemen’s war has left hundreds of thousands of people dead, through fighting or indirect causes such as disease or lack of food, with most of the population dependent on aid.
