Paris celebrates night-time art festival

As the French capital gets ready to host the Olympics next summer, Saturday saw the opening of Paris’s nighttime arts festival, which had a sporty theme.

Since 2002, the event has brought contemporary art to Paris’s streets and museums. This year, the river Seine, the venue for the 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony, occupies center stage.

For the so-called “Cultural Olympiad,” there will be 200 pieces of art and performances in Paris and the riverside cities, including enormous sculptures and boats that play music.

A variety of entertainment has resulted from the blending of art and sport, including burlesque Mexican wrestling and ping-pong tournaments with a Wild West theme.

Along with opera singers and whirling dervishes performing Sufi dance, visitors may anticipate seeing a drone display that simulates a starry sky.
