Indian Supreme Court dismisses plea for complete ban on BBC

A public interest lawsuit asking for a total ban on the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and BBC India’s operations from Indian soil was dismissed by the Indian Supreme Court.

The lawsuit was brought about after the 2002 Gujarat riots documentary “India: The Modi Question” was broadcast.

A two-part series by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) criticizing PM Modi’s time as Gujarat’s chief minister during the 2002 riots provoked uproar and was taken down from some platforms.

According to the sources, the center sent instructions for censoring numerous YouTube videos and Twitter messages that shared links to the divisive BBC documentary on January 21.
