Bangladesh has urged the international community to act to establish a just, sustainable, comprehensive, and peaceful solution to the Palestine question by recognizing Palestine as an independent state with a proper seat in the UN (UN).
“The international community must make sincere efforts to address the core causes of the Palestinian conflict and put a stop to Israeli aggression,” said Ambassador Rabab Fatima of Bangladesh, Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
According to a message received here today, she spoke on Wednesday at the United Nations General Assembly plenary meeting on the agenda item “Question of Palestine.”
Israel must abide by all international human rights and humanitarian laws, as well as applicable UN decisions, including Resolution 2334 (2016), according to Fatima.
“The Palestinian debate’s continuing here is a glaring reminder of the international community’s failure to preserve the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights,” she continued.
Ambassador Fatima reaffirmed Bangladesh’s unshakable and unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s rightful cause for an independent, viable, and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, within the framework of a two-state solution based on pre-1967 lines.
She alluded to the deteriorating situation in occupied Palestinian land as a result of Israeli occupation forces’ demolitions and seizures of homes and structures, as well as expulsions, forced displacement, and murder of Palestinians.
According to Ambassador Fatima, these actions were in flagrant violation of UN resolutions as well as international human rights and humanitarian law.
According to the Bangladesh Ambassador, the culture of impunity must end, and perpetrators of atrocity crimes against Palestinian civilians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory must face justice.
She praised the ongoing independent international commission of inquiry into these crimes, as well as the International Criminal Court’s progress in this area.
She praised UNRWA’s work and stressed the importance of meeting Palestinians’ immediate humanitarian needs, especially COVID-19 recovery needs while pushing the international community to enhance its funding for UNRWA.
