Special security measures have been taken all around the country and in and around the National Eidgah, the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Sholakia Eidgha Maidan and other major congregations in the capital as well as other major cities in the country.

The Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated on the 10th of Zilhajj month of the Hizri calendar as Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), on this day some 4,000 years ago, offered to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS) who willingly submitted to the will of his father to please Allah. But, the Almighty in His benign mercy spared Hazrat Ismail (AS) and instead sent a ram to be sacrificed.

To commemorate this historic event, the Muslims all over the world slaughter sacrificial animals and draw inspiration from the unique example of sacrifice by two great prophets – Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS) – to please Allah.

Rainwater mixed with animal blood all over Dhaka city created a strange and disturbing scene.

The continuous downpour caused huge waterlogging at different areas of the capital city Dhaka, resulting in the animal blood and wastes being mixed up with stranded water, submerging the streets. The problem was seen most prominently in the Shantinagar area, which is particularly famous for water-logging. Some people balmed the authority for this waterlogging.
