Gulshan Society launched its annual mosquito control program on Sunday, 4 November 2018. The Civic Utilities Team worked with the Zonal Convener responsible for the specific neighborhood to target highly vulnerable areas including Roads 126 and the lake next to Road 130 in Gulshan, Dhaka.
The community service organization recently purchased both spray and fogger machines. By spraying larvicide into the egg farms in the drains and sewers, it hopes to prevent mosquitoes from hatching. The fogger is to stop mosquitoes that are already alive and airborne.
Civic Utilities Co-Convener, Shayaan Seraj, said “Mosquitoes are transmitters of infectious diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. It is the responsibility of everyone in our community to come forward and assist in mosquito control programs. We believe Gulshan Society complements existing programs run by Dhaka North City Corporation. However, additional support is required in order to truly manage the mosquito population.”
Gulshan Society is a community organization formed by the residential inhabitants of a pristine and upstart location called Gulshan Model town in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The Society, formed in 2002 with 51 distinguished persons of the nation, has been rendering advocacy, coordination and leadership to its primary constituency in their matters related to property, habitat and livability for a privileged segment of citizens owning residential property in this decorated neighborhood. Its members have mingled to develop fellowship among themselves through various social, cultural and advocacy activities under its glorious auspices with inclusion.
