Young Bangladeshi filmmaker Aung Rakhine’s film My Bicycle (Mor Thangri) is going to Argentina for a show. This is the first ever Chakma language film in Bangladesh.
This film will be displayed in the ‘International Competition’ section at “Fiksar International Film Festival” organized in Argentina.
Although “My Bicycle” has been recognized at many international film festival, It’s not yet received clearance in Bangladesh. Three years after the release, the film is still stuck on the sensor board. Only the censor board has said in the letter that the film has to be cut for 20 minutes, only then it would be considered for clearance.
Aung Rakhine is the first filmmaker from the indigenous Rakhaine community and he made his debut with a film about another indigenous Chakma community. According to Aung, Chakma Community is the biggest indigenous community in Bangladesh. Chakma community faced the most difficult times rather than other indigenous communities. So his first concept was showing Chakma Community struggles, on behalf of all the indigenous communities.
9 other films from Argentina, Brazil, France, and Mexico will compete in the competition category with Bangladeshi film My Bicycle in “Fiksar International Film Festival”.
