Home Adviser asks security personnel to stay vigilant as people can move freely

To uphold law and order, Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) has urged law enforcement to remain vigilant and attentive.

“To be always alert and vigilant to maintain law and order as people can sleep peacefully and move around without fear,” he said.

After examining security measures at four police stations—Mirpur, Darussalam, Adabor, and Mohammadpur—as well as the surrounding areas early this morning, the adviser gave the security staff instructions.

According to Jahangir, personnel of the home ministry have been tasked with keeping an eye on the state of law and order in addition to law enforcement authorities.

He gave everyone reassurance regarding safety, stating that checkpoints are operational and that law enforcement services are on guard with increased security patrols.

“The joint force operation is also going well. Activities of the police stations are going on at a normal pace,” he said

The Home Adviser said he started the inspection yesterday (Wednesday) mainly to see if the police stations and security personnel were functioning properly.

Jahangir said that law enforcement agencies usually show laxity in their duties in the early hours of the morning and terrorists and criminals try to commit various criminal activities cashing in on the slackness.

“I have instructed the law enforcement agencies to remain alert and vigilant even during early hours of the morning,”

When asked how long the current joint operation would last, the adviser replied that if things get better, the joint operation will end.

A sub-inspector and a constable were suspended from Gulshan Police Station yesterday due to their incompetence in their duties, the Home Advisor added.

For the second day in a row, Jahangir left his home at DOHS Baridhara in the capital city early today and traveled via ECB Chattar, Kalshi, Pallabi, Mirpur-10 to the Mirpur Police Station. He then traveled via Mirpur-1 to the Darussalam Police Station.

From Darussalam Police Station, he went to Adabor Police Station via Technical Intersection, Shyamoli.

After visiting Mohammadpur Police Station, he returned to his Baridhara residence via Dhanmondi 27, Sangsad Bhaban, Bijoy Sarani, Mohakhali, Banani.

The adviser toured the police station’s reception area, detention center, and auxiliary facilities while conducting the inspection.

He addressed the on-duty security guards during the inspection and urged them to take the initiative.

He interacted with the responsible officers at the Kalshi More Checkpost and the Zillur Rahman Flyover Checkpost while traveling.

Speaking to members of the public at the Mirpur Thana and Technical crossings, the adviser asked them about their circumstances as well as the state of law and order generally.

People said that the state of law and order at the moment is satisfactory, expressing their contentment.
