In an effort to strengthen the two nations’ bilateral ties, Maria Tripodi, Italy’s vice minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation, will travel to Bangladesh from February 18 to 20.
“During the visit, Bangladesh is expected to prioritize issues such as the swift and effective resolution of migration-related complexities,” said foreign ministry’s spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul Alam at the weekly media briefing at the ministry this afternoon.
He said the vise minister is expected to meet with the Chief Adviser, Foreign Affairs adviser and Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment adviser.
“This is the first ministerial visit from Italy in the last eight years and it is the first ministerial visit from a European Union member state since the current interim government assumed office,” said the spokesperson.
In order to further fortify ties between the people of Bangladesh and Italy, Alam stated that during the visit, the two nations will talk about expanding cooperation in the spheres of education and culture as well as improving mutual cooperation in the commercial and industrial sectors.
