Md. Touhid Hossain, the foreign affairs adviser, stated today that there is a great deal of room for more cooperation with Bhutan, especially in the fields of trade and power.
He made the comments during a farewell visit from Rinchen Kuentsyl, the departing Bhutanese Ambassador to Bangladesh, at the foreign ministry here, according to a news release from the ministry.The Foreign Affairs Advisor mentioned that Bangladesh and Bhutan have a great bilateral relationship during the meeting.
The adviser also mentioned that Bhutan was the first country to recognize Bangladesh and Bhutan holds a special place in the hearts of Bangladeshi people.
Ambassador Kuentsyl emphasized that Bangladesh is a steadfast partner of Bhutan in the region and expressed confidence that the collaboration will continue to strengthen in the future. The importance of having extensive regional cooperation through SAARC and BIMSTEC for the greater benefit of the people of the region was discussed.
