In order to strengthen diplomatic and commercial ties, Bangladesh’s ambassador to Mexico, M. Mushfiqul Fazal (Ansarey), has emphasized the significance of moving quickly to open a Mexican embassy in Dhaka.
A message received here today states that he made the statement during a meeting with Jonathan Chait Auerbach, the Chief of Protocol at the Mexican Foreign Ministry, in Mexico City on Thursday. He also presented a copy of his letter of credence.
It further stated that at a later time, the new ambassador from Bangladesh will formally deliver his credentials to the president of Mexico.
Mushfiqul emphasized the cordial and long-standing relationship between Bangladesh and Mexico at the meeting and conveyed his appreciation for the assistance and collaboration provided by the Mexican Foreign Ministry.
The Ambassador also emphasized the important reform programs that the Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus’s interim administration of Bangladesh had put in place.
According to him, the goals of these programs are to promote democracy, good governance, political changes, economic growth, and free, fair, and inclusive elections.
The Chief of Protocol commended Ambassador Mushfiqul for his significant contributions, particularly his unwavering advocacy for human rights, democracy, and press freedom in the global arena. Both parties reiterated their dedication to advancing closer ties and bolstering bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Fernando González Saiffe, Director General (DG) for Asia-Pacific at the Mexican Foreign Ministry, attended the conference.
