Tomorrow marks the start of a two-day formal visit by United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, who will meet with representatives of civil society and high government officials.
As per a press statement sent today by the UN Resident Coordinator office in Dhaka, the high commissioner is expected to meet with Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus during the visit.
The chief judge, the head of the army, the leaders of multiple reform committees, and other experts from various ministries will also meet with the UN HR chief.
Additionally, Türk will speak at Dhaka University, where he will engage with students who are part of the current protest movement.
He would also meet with representatives of diplomatic missions in Bangladesh and UN agencies.
On Wednesday afternoon, the high commissioner will conclude his mission in Dhaka with a press conference.
