Today, at the Army Headquarters here, a team from the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), led by its president Mahbubul Alam, paid a courtesy call to Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman.
According to a press release, the business leaders asked the Bangladesh Army for help in maintaining an environment that is business-friendly, sustaining production at mills and factories and the supply chain, bolstering security at factories and business establishments, and reducing extortion.
In this regard, the president of the FBCCI expressed gratitude to the Army Chief for leading the Bangladesh Army’s efforts to prioritize the security of the industry through a variety of operations and patrols in the industrial belt and surrounding areas.
Mahbubul also expressed his interest to work with the army in strengthening security in the industries alongside restoring confidence among the businessmen.
In response, General General Waker-uz-Zaman assured the FBCCI business delegation that they would discharge their duties bestowed upon them properly in ensuring security of the business community and all citizens of the country.
He said that the Bangladesh Army has always maintained its vigilance to allow both foreign and local investors to carry out their operations side by side while guaranteeing the security of the ports, factories, and supply chains.
The Army Chief also appealed to the business community to help the law enforcement agencies by supplying intelligence in the event that any industry faces a threat.
Former FBCCI presidents Mahbubur Rahman, Abdul Awal Mintoo, Mir Nasir Hossain, AK Azad, Md Jashim Uddin, Square Pharmaceuticals Limited managing director Tapan Chowdhury, DCCI president Ashraf Ahmed, BGMEA acting president Khandaker Rafiqul Islam and Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh CEO Naser Ejaj Bijoy were present, among others, on the occasion.
