The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA) launched the inaugural BGMEA Career Summit & Fest 2023 today with a lot of excitement.
The two-day event is taking place at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara, Dhaka, and is funded by the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT).
As the main guest, Faruque Hassan, President of BGMEA, opened the career summit.
According to a press release, Md. Shafiqur Rahman, President of the Institution of Textile Engineers and Technologists, Prof. Dr. S. M. Mahfuzur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT), Asif Ashraf, Director, BGMEA, and Shafiur Rahman, Regional Operations Manager, G-Star RAW, spoke at the inaugural ceremony.
The event was also attended by BGMEA Vice President Shahidullah Azim and Director Neela Hosna Ara. Abdullah Hil Rakib, Director, BGMEA moderated the inaugural ceremony.
These industry leaders shared their valuable insights and experiences with the graduates present at the event.
More than 100 leading ready-made garment companies are actively participating in the BGMEA Career Summit & Fest.
Hundreds of graduates and students from various universities, including BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology, Asian University for Women, Bangladesh University of Textiles, and Shanto Mariam University of Creative Technology, visited the event to explore opportunities offered by the participating garment companies.
The summit also featured sessions where industry experts shared their valuable insight into the career prospects in the RMG industry and how graduates could build their career in the sector.
The career summit not only provides a platform for networking and exploration but also allows job aspirants to submit their CVs directly to BGMEA. These resumes will be shared with member factories for potential recruitment, offering a direct avenue for job seekers to connect with potential employers.
In his speech, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan urged graduates to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the career summit.
The speaker underscored the significance of education, fostering connections, and visualizing a future that not only serves the interests of individuals but also fosters the expansion and durability of the RMG industry as a whole.
Emphasizing the fluid character of the industry, Faruque urged students to arm themselves with information and competencies in line with the changing needs of international marketplaces.
He emphasized that in the era of artificial intelligence and disruptive technologies, graduates must seize new chances, realize their full potential, and support the development of the RMG industry in Bangladesh as well as their own personal development.
