Security forces helicopter goes missing in Panama

On Sunday, a helicopter from Panama’s National Aeronaval Service (SENAN) vanished while on a mission in the country’s western region, according to the agency.

According to a statement from SENAN, the division of the Panama Public Forces in charge of the country’s naval and maritime security, search operations were being carried out to find the AW-139 and its three crew members.

According to the report, the plane vanished between the Caribbean city of Punta Rincon and Santiago de Veraguas, which is farther inland and around 250 kilometers (155 miles) from Panama City.

Four aircraft have been dispatched to search for the missing helicopter, whose last communication was at 1600 GMT.
