According to Ukrainian military intelligence, a recent drone strike that destroyed numerous transport planes at an airport in northwest Russia was launched from inside Russian territory.
The assertion was made as pupils returned to their classrooms for the second academic year following Russia’s invasion, and Kyiv reported that police in the capital were dealing with bomb threats.
This week’s attack on Pskov Airport, which is 700 kilometers (more than 400 miles) from Ukraine, was the most recent incident to shake Russian soil since Kyiv promised to “return” the conflict to Russia in July.
“The drones used to attack the ‘Kresty’ air base in Pskov were launched from Russia,” Ukraine’s intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov said on social media Friday.
“Four Russian IL-76 military transport planes were hit as a result of the attack. Two were destroyed, and two were seriously damaged,” he added.
