A group of young climbers from Bangladesh has called on the United States to play a truly leading role in the global transition to a new green-energy economy. They also wrote an open letter requesting special funding from the US administration to address the damage caused by the climate crisis.
The letter addressed to John Kerry, the US president’s special envoy for climate change, was a straightforward message to compensate for fossil fuel resources and help us expand our renewable energy to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
“The future of millions of young people around the world is at stake because of the climate crisis. We no longer want empty promises from rich countries. We want real climate leadership from the United States for future generations, “the letter said.
In a letter to John Kerry, the young Bangladeshi climate fighters also reminded John Kerry of the signing of the Paris Climate Agreement at the COP21 conference as a symbol of protection for the future of the next generation.
The open letter sent by the US President’s Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry during his visit to Dhaka with the invitation letter of US President Joe Biden’s ‘Leaders Summit on Climate’ was also published in the international media. The letter, signed by Sohanur Rahman, coordinator of the environmentalist youth network Youthnet for Climate Justice, was sent via e-mail last Thursday night to the US Embassy in Bangladesh and the US Global Change Office’s Ocean and International Environment and Scientific Bureau.
Exactly one month after sitting in the White House, the Biden administration returned to the International Climate Agreement or the Paris Agreement. Former United States Secretary of State John Kerry has been appointed President Joe Biden’s special envoy for climate change after the United States returned to the Paris Agreement. The Donald Trump administration withdrew from the Paris Agreement. Biden has pledged to create a USD 100 billion-a-year global fund to tackle climate change, as well as decontaminate the U.S. power sector by 2035.
Biden has already allocated USD 2 billion in the budget to contribute to the climate fund. With World Earth Day looming, he is expected to make a particularly good announcement. The return of the United States is expected to give a new impetus to climate diplomacy.

Welcoming US President Biden for returning to the Paris Agreement and inviting the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to the Heads of State Climate Conference, the letter called for an immediate halt to investment in Environmentally destructive fuel.
The letter from the young climate worker was described as “inspiring” by the US Department of the Interior’s Office of Ocean and International Environment and Scientific Affairs.
