Sports are banned in England until July 1 due to the coronavirus. Cricket all summer was therefore in danger of being swept away. But first Pakistan and now West Indies defended the English. With both teams agreeing to tour England, England is set to play international cricket at the end of the summer.
Pakistan has already agreed to play Tests and T20s in England in late July. The West Indies also agreed to tour England tomorrow. The two teams will play three Tests in the Test Championship in July. Before that, Jason Holder’s team will leave for England in June. Initially, the Caribbean cricketers will return to cricket after spending three weeks in quarantine and practice.
Not long ago, the Caribbean was not very interested in touring England. However, the West Indies are getting the courage to go on a new ECB tour plan.
Colin Grave, chief executive of the Caribbean Cricket Board, told Cricinfo: “The ECB is very confident in their new plan. Our medical team is also comfortable with its new plan. Everyone involved has a clear idea of what it would be like to play cricket in England for 7 weeks.
Southampton and Manchester could be chosen as potential bio-safe venues for the three-Test series. Attempts will be made to conduct the game in the presence of 200-250 people outside the respective teams. Cricketers will be tested for coronavirus regularly.
