Greece will resume its tourist season on June 15 as a key sector in boosting the Greece economy following the coronavirus lockdown, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Wednesday that international flights would resume on July 1.
Mitsotakis announced less than 180 people had died in the two-month-old COVID-19 epidemic. “This success in dealing with corona will attract tourists as a passport to safety, credibility and good health.”
“Just as we have succeeded in protecting health from coronary heart disease, we will also succeed in the economic battle,” he said.
In order to attract tourists, the tax on all transports has been reduced from the current 24 percent to 13 percent for the next five months.
