Aston Martin is celebrating a victory in the reader’s choice award of Germany’s leading motoring magazine auto motor und sport.
In the 15th annual reader’s survey, over 100 car models competed across ten categories with more than 18,000 votes cast. The new Aston Martin DB11 won the prestigious sports car category, with the Aston Martin DB11 receiving 36.2% of the votes, ahead of Porsche 911 (31.6%) and Jaguar F-Type SVR (13.7%).
The first product launched under the company’s ‘Second Century’ plan, DB11 showcases a fresh and distinctive design language, pioneering aerodynamics and is powered by a potent new in-house designed 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine.
Heralding a new design era for Aston Martin, DB11 is the latest landmark in a remarkable aesthetic journey; one that gave Aston Martin icons such as the DB2/4, DB5 and, most recently, the DB10 developed specifically for James Bond. DB11 re-imagines the relationship between form and function with a series of fresh design signatures.
The award ceremony took place in Stuttgart last week. Aston Martin Creative Director of Exterior Design Miles Nurnberger, said: “The Aston Martin DB11 is the bold new figurehead of the illustrious ‘DB’ bloodline and an authentic, dynamic sporting GT in the finest Aston Martin tradition. Winning this prestigious award even before the DB11 arrives at dealerships in October, underlines the outstanding achievement our design and engineer team fulfilled. We are extremely delighted that the DB11 was awarded this prize by the readers of Germany’s most important car magazine. We thank the readers of auto motor und sport for their votes.”
