UAE grants royal pardon to 440 Bangladeshis

In keeping with the nation’s traditional humanitarian tradition, the United Arab Emirates’ rulers have awarded royal pardons to 440 Bangladeshi convicts on the occasion of the UAE’s 54th Union Day.

According to a news release from the UAE embassy here today, the pardons were given as part of the 2025 Eid Al Etihad (UAE National Day) celebrations, during which the UAE government granted amnesty to thousands of prisoners of various nationalities throughout the nation.

Such royal pardons are routinely issued by UAE rulers on major national and religious occasions, including Eid festivals and National Day, with the aim of promoting forgiveness, social reintegration, and family reunification.

Officials noted that recent pardon initiatives in late 2025 covered a large number of prisoners, including Bangladeshi nationals, offering them an opportunity to rebuild their lives and return to their families and communities.

The action demonstrates the UAE leadership’s dedication to compassion and humanitarian principles.

Every year on December 2, Eid Al Etihad commemorates the emirates’ historic unification under a single flag in 1971.
