Probe report in Salman Shah killing case on Feb 22

Today, a court in this city appointed February 22 for the submission of a probe report in a case involving the murder of Salman Shah, a well-known movie star.

Due to the investigation officer’s (IO) failure to turn in the report today, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana issued the order.

In accordance with sections 302 and 34 of the Penal Code, Salman Shah’s maternal uncle Mohammad Alamgir filed a charge against eleven individuals, including Salman’s wife Samira Haque, with the capital’s Ramna Police Station on October 21, 2025.

Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Latifa Haque Lusi, Dawn, David, Zaved, Faruk, Ruby, A Sattar, Saju, and Rijvi Ahmed Farhad are the other accused.

Dhaka’s Sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions took place earlier on October 20, 2025.
The official in charge of Ramna Police Station was instructed by Judge Md. Jannatul Ferdous Ibn Haque to treat the case filed regarding the death of Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar (Emon), also known as Salman Shah, as a murder case and produce a report in this regard.

According to the court’s October 31, 2021 order, the unnatural death (UD) case was canceled and revoked.

The case statement states that on September 6, 1996, Salman Shah was visited at his home in New Eskaton by his mother, Nilufar Zaman Chowdhury (Neela Chowdhury), father, now deceased Kamar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, and their younger son, Shahraan Shah.

Salman was sleeping when they arrived at the house, according to his wife Samira and a domestic helper named Abul. Siddique, a film producer, had also gone to see him at that time. Salman’s parents informed Samira that they would meet him on route to Sylhet after learning that he was asleep.

Later that day, Kamar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury received a call from production manager Selim informing him that Salman had suffered an injury and urging them to visit his home right away.

Salman was lying immobile in his bedroom with a few unidentified women putting oil on his hands and feet when Neela, her husband, and their younger son arrived at the residence. Ruby, Samira’s relative and the owner of the adjoining Mayfair Beauty Parlour, was seated in another room.

Salman’s mother cried out at that point, pleading with them to take her son to the hospital right away. According to reports, one of Samira’s friends yelled at Salman’s mother, “You get out of my house.”

Salman’s parents hurried him to Holy Family Hospital, where they saw that his face and legs were going blue and that he had rope scars on his neck. Salman Shah’s mother persisted on transporting him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival, claiming he had passed away previously.

Kamar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury first filed an unnatural death case after the occurrence. Salman Shah’s father filed a petition with the court on July 24, 1997, the following year, alleging murder and attempting to register the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code. The complainant stated, “As Salman’s father — my brother-in-law — has passed away, I am pursuing the case on behalf of my sister under the power of attorney vested in me.”
