Due to his suspected involvement in accumulating movable and immovable wealth that is incongruous with known income sources, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has chosen to bring legal action against Md. Enamur Rahman, the former state minister for disaster management and relief.
Md. Akhter Hossain, the ACC Director General for Prevention, informed reporters during a briefing held here today.
He stated that throughout its probe, the ACC discovered that Dr. Enamur Rahman had amassed assets totaling more than Tk 8.53 crore. His total allowable revenue was Tk 2 lakh, Tk 2 crore, Tk 14,000, and Tk 562. However, he failed to provide proper documentation for his income sources involving Tk 6 crore, 50 lakh, 92 thousand, and 785.
Furthermore, according to the ACC official, Enamur used his five bank accounts to conduct suspicious transactions totaling more than Tk 12.69 crore at various points in time.
As a result, the ACC suggested that Enamur be charged.
Rawshan Akhter Chowdhury, Enamur’s wife, was summoned by the ACC to provide her wealth statement to the commission because assets valued at about Tk 28 crore, 26 lakh, 89 thousand, and 299 were discovered in her possession and did not match her known sources of income.
