Research, innovation crucial for environmental development: Rizwana 

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser for the environment, forests, and climate change, emphasized today the importance of encouraging research to combat climate change and guarantee environmental sustainability.

“Research must extend beyond academic exercises to become practical and people-centric. Only through research-driven innovations, environmentally responsible policies can be formulated, ultimately ensuring a habitable planet for future generations,” she said.

Speaking as the main guest at the first season of the “Research, Innovation, and Publication Fair 2025” at Chattogram University’s (CU) Intellectuals’ Square, the environmental adviser made the comments.

She emphasized in her speech the importance of carrying out in-depth study on important topics including environmental preservation, climate change, and the sustainable use of natural resources.

In order to ensure a better future, she emphasized the need for ecologically sustainable technology and innovation and called for scientific, objective, and human welfare-focused research.

Rizwana urged the CU authorities to declare its campus free from single-use plastics and noise pollution, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to sustainability.

Paying honour to distinguished scientist and researcher Jamal Nazrul Islam, she formally inaugurated the “Research, Innovation, and Publication Fair 2025.” 

After the inauguration, she visited the exhibition stalls.

The event was attended by CU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yahya Akhtar, its Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Amin, Trustee of the A.F. Mujibur Rahman Foundation M Nurul Alam and Member of the Jamal Nazrul Research Center’s Governing Board Ms. Sadaf Saz Siddiqui.

The research fair featured over a hundred stalls representing schools, colleges, university departments, research laboratories, and institutes from within and beyond the Chattogram Division.
