Today, Foreign Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain called on Oman to safeguard Bangladesh’s energy supplies while pursuing closer energy cooperation with the Middle Eastern country.
According to a news release from the Bangladeshi foreign ministry this evening, he made the request during a bilateral meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi on the fringes of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) in Muscat.
The foreign adviser also asked his Omani counterpart to hire Bangladeshi experts, including nurses, doctors, engineers, and IT specialists, at the meeting.
He specifically asked for the recruitment of world-class shipbuilding technicians from Bangladesh, who might significantly boost the shipbuilding sector in Oman. The two leaders conveyed their delight with the strong bilateral ties that exist between their two nations.
Both parties decided to appropriately commemorate the impending 50th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Oman.
To commemorate the occasion, the foreign affairs adviser requested his Omani counterpart to come to Bangladesh.
Hossain expressed gratitude to Oman for welcoming a sizable population of Bangladeshi expats who are boosting both countries’ economies.
