Foreign adviser to join Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat

The Indian Ocean Conference, which will take place in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on February 16–17, is expected to be attended by Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain.

Along with Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who will be attending the “World Government Summit 2025” in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the adviser left Dhaka this evening for Dubai.

“From Dubai, the Foreign Affairs Adviser will travel to Muscat on February 14 to join the Indian Ocean Conference,” an official from the foreign ministry confirmed BSS this evening.

Hossain is expected to return home on February 18 after attending the conference, the official added.

Dr. S. Jaishankar, the Indian minister of external affairs, is also expected to travel to Muscat for the summit.

Thirty countries participated in the Indian Ocean Conference, which was initiated by the India Foundation in Singapore in 2016.

Over the past eight years, the Conference has become the premier regional consultative forum for nations in the area.

The conference endeavours to bring critical states and principal maritime partners of the region together on a common platform to deliberate upon the prospects of regional cooperation for Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
