The Value Added Tax (VAT) on fees and hotel rents (hospitality charges) for foreign physicians treating patients hurt during anti-discrimination student protests has been exempted by the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
In a notification released today, NBR stated that doctors invited to treat patients by the Directorate General of Health Services or appropriate hospital authorities are exempt from costs, consulting fees, and hotel accommodations.
Both public and private organizations that now offer medical and health services are exempt from VAT under the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act of 2012.
