Since the city’s air quality index (AQI) has already risen to a dangerous level, the Department of Environment (DoE) has advised residents to wear face masks when they are outside.
According to a news release, the DoE has advised city residents to use face masks when they walk outside since the city’s AQI has risen to over 300 this morning.
The announcement also stated that sensitive individuals, including children, the elderly, and the sick, have been requested to stay inside their homes unless there is an emergency.
The environmental authority stated that the air quality index is changing hourly and that during the dry season, the city and its surrounding areas typically experience unhealthy to vulnerable air quality.
