BD-China ties to reach unique height through cultural exchange: Farooki

According to Cultural Affairs Advisor Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, the cultural exchange will help Bangladesh and China’s relationship reach a new level of excellence in the future, reports BSS.

“I know that Bangladesh has entered into a new era…I want to congratulate the Chinese government and its embassy, and I am hopeful that the relations between Bangladesh and China will reach distinctive heights in the days to come through cultural exchanges,” he said.

“Cultural exchanges between the two friendly countries will benefit the two nations culturally and economically,” said the adviser.

During a Chinese New Year celebration held at Shilpakala Academy here on Tuesday afternoon, the adviser shared the hope.

Dr. Syed Jamil Ahmed, the director general of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, presented the welcoming speech. Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, a member of the standing committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), and Yao Wen, the Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh, also spoke.

Following the conversation, Zhejiang Wu Opera was performed by Chinese performers, and traditional Manipuri dance was organized by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

The Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is a celebration that marks the end of winter and the start of spring.

Raising family harmony and greeting friends and other family members are the festival’s primary themes. In China, 2025 has been dubbed the ‘year of the serpent’.
