According to a news release issued this afternoon by the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Bangladesh Navy’s yearly sea drill, “Exercise Safe Guard-2024,” got underway today.
Similar to last year, the exercise will be carried out in order to coordinate with the pertinent maritime organizations during a crisis in order to safeguard Bangladesh’s maritime frontiers’ economic interests and sovereignty.
To improve the navy forces’ professional capability, the exercise will be carried out in three stages. The exercise encompasses a number of naval fleet strategic exercises, maritime border monitoring, search and rescue operations, logistics and landing operations, and a defense exercise of naval sites situated along the coast.
The exercise will include ship-to-ship and anti-aircraft missile launches, anti-aircraft shelling, anti-submarine rocket depth charges, VBSS, naval commando, and other naval combat tactics on the last day.
The exercise will directly involve a large number of Bangladesh Navy vessels, including frigates, corvettes, OPVs, mine sweepers, patrol craft, missile boats, the Elite Special Operations Force (SWADS) of the Bangladesh Navy, and the Navy’s specialist maritime patrol aircraft and helicopters.
Additionally, the ISPR release stated that the Bangladesh Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard, together with associated maritime groups, will take part in this exercise directly and indirectly, as they do each year.
