A unified approach is a must for promotion of Hill products: Rizwana

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the adviser for environment, forests, and climate change, emphasized today the importance of a coordinated strategy to market the diverse goods of Cox’s Bazar and the Chittagong Hill Tracts throughout the nation.She cited indigenous fruits, bamboo, cane, handicrafts, and honey as important goods in need of focused assistance.

In order to support market expansion, she emphasized the significance of enhancing product quality, providing training and financial assistance to local entrepreneurs, and setting up display and marketing facilities in important cities.

She said that cooperative initiatives from the government, non-governmental organizations, and foreign partners might successfully raise consumer interest in these regional goods.

Speaking as the Chief Guest at the National Launch of USAID’s “Host and Impacted Community Resilience Activity” at a city  hotel, Rizwana noted that utilizing e-commerce platforms would enhance the products’ online visibility, ensuring fair prices for producers and fostering local economic growth.

She also praised USAID and the government of Bangladesh’s collaborative efforts, emphasizing that these programs foster social peace, equity, and sustainable development while leaving no neighborhood behind.She pointed out that reaching these objectives requires international cooperation.

The U.S. Ambassador in Dhaka The United States’ commitment to helping Bangladesh achieve sustainable development in climate-vulnerable areas was reiterated by Tracey Ann Jacobson.

A digital ribbon-cutting ceremony, a video presentation on the effort, and a photo gallery were all part of the occasion.

Manzoor Ahmed, President of Friends of Village Development Bangladesh, and Treena Bishop, Chief of Party for the initiative, also addressed the gathering.

Policymakers, development partners, and community representatives participated in the function, sharing strategies to build resilience in affected communities.
