Since the city’s air quality index (AQI) has already declined to an extremely dangerous level, the Department of Environment (DoE) has advised residents to wear face masks when they are outside.
“Wearing face mask for city dwellers in outside is a must,” said a DoE press release today. The environment authority issued this alert for the inhabitants of the capital and its adjacent areas as the AQI during this morning at 10am reached to more than 250, according to latest air quality monitoring report.
According to the announcement, sensitive individuals, such as the elderly, the sick, and children, have also been requested to stay inside their homes unless there is an emergency.
The environment authorities stated that the air quality index is changing hourly and that during the dry season, the city and its surrounding areas frequently experience air quality that ranges from unhealthy to vulnerable.
