Online tax return submission crosses 10 lakh

Over 10 lakh income tax returns have been filed online, and over 16 lakh people have registered to file their returns online.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) claims that individual taxpayers can quickly and easily file their income tax returns for the 2024–2025 tax year online at www.etaxnbr.gov.bd. They can also download and print copies of their filed returns, receipts, income tax certificates, and TIN certificates.

Taxpayers are simultaneously benefiting from online banking, debit/credit card payments, and mobile banking for both tax payment and tax adjustment (Adjustment of Tax Refund). Round-the-clock support is being provided by call center and e-mail in this regard, said an NBR announcement.

Already, the e-Return Registration process is now easier for taxpayers to use. The taxpayer must have a biometric SIM card linked to their national identity card in order to successfully register for an e-Return.

By simply entering *16001#, anyone may quickly determine if the taxpayer’s mobile number is biometrically linked to their NID card.

Additionally, in an effort to streamline the online return filing process, the Revenue Board has implemented special measures for taxpayers who, even with a National Identity Card, are unable to register in the e-Return System because they lack fingerprints and cannot obtain a Biometric Mobile SIM.
