According to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, he and Russian President Vladimir Putin are the only two true leaders in the world today.
“Now, there are only two [experienced] leaders in the world. They are myself and Vladimir Putin. I am not saying this because one of them is me.
However, my tenure in office is 22 years, which is almost as long as Mr. Putin’s. They’re gone.
We also want our conversation to go on. The political process must go on. When [Chancellor] Angela Merkel departed, for example, politics in Germany came to an end,” he remarked.
He added that he admires Gerhard Schroder, the former chancellor of Germany.
“His degree of respect for us was absolutely different and he was a good leader indeed. For instance, during Ramadan (meaning the evening meal during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan – TASS), he did not drink beer at our table. He showed respect.
We are still in communication with Schroder, and he even comes to Turkey from time to time,” the Turkish leader stated.
