Suborna Mustafa, an actress and former member of parliament, was halted at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, preventing her from receiving medical care in Bangkok. The incident happened this Saturday morning. Prothom Alo received confirmation of the news from a member of Suborna Mustafa’s family.
Suborna Mustafa was accompanied by her husband, director Badrul Anam Saud, according to the source. Upon reaching the airport, the two of them went through the immigration and check-in processes. After that, they waited to board the plane in the lounge.
An immigration police officer arrived five minutes prior to boarding and told them that Suborna Mustafa was being watched by the National Security Intelligence (NSI). They are unable to permit her to exit the nation because of this.
A source close to Suborna and Saud, meantime, claimed that the pair felt ashamed when the authorities prevented Suborna from leaving the country. According to the person close to Suborna, Suborna was going to Bangkok for medical reasons. On December 3, she has an appointment with her doctor.
Suborna Mustafa, an actress, has long been active in the Awami League’s political activities. The Awami League nominated her for the reserved women’s seat in parliament, and she was elected. From 2019 to 2024, Suborna Mustafa represented the Bangladesh Awami League in parliament.
