Following a lightning advance by rebels, Iran’s top diplomat, Abbas Araghchi, announced on Sunday that he will depart Tehran for Damascus to convey a message of support for Syria’s government and military, according to state media.
Tehran will “firmly support the Syrian government and army,” Araghchi stated, adding, “I am going to Damascus to convey the message of the Islamic Republic to the Syrian government,” according to the IRNA state news agency.
