ASEF EC meeting held in Singapore

The Asia-Europe Foundation’s (ASEF) Executive Committee Meeting ended in Singapore with a renewed commitment to increased cooperation between the nations of Asia and Europe.

For the current year, Bangladesh is serving as the ASEF Board of Governors’ chair.

According to a press release from the Bangladeshi foreign ministry today, the EC meeting on Friday was headed by Rais Hasan Sarower, Director-General, Regional Organisations, who is currently the chair of the ASEF Board of Governors.

The executive body provided directives to enhance the visibility of the organization and recommended exploring new funding mechanisms and ensuring data privacy, as well as strategic upgrades to make ASEF more meaningful for member states.

The Latvian government’s project proposal for training women in peace and security was also accepted at the meeting.

During the 1st ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in February 1997, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) was established as a supplement to the ASEM process.

With its headquarters in Singapore, ASEF gives Asians and Europeans the chance to share ideas and work together to find creative and significant answers to shared global problems.
