Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Advisor Supradip Chakma today sought Australian government’s support for the development of Bangladesh.
He sought the support when a 3-member delegation led by the acting High Commissioner of Australia to Bangladesh Nardia Simpson paid a courtesy call on him at his Bangladesh Secretariat office here.
During the meeting, he expressed gratitude to the Australian government for its support in different development initiatives here, hoping that the Australian government would always remain beside Bangladesh in the days to come.
The CHT adviser informed the delegation about the various reform programs undertaken by the incumbent government to ensure development in CHT region, an attractive tourist destination of Bangladesh.
He stated that the CHT ministry and other relevant organisations are putting in endless effort to carry on the path of peace, harmony, development, and advancement for all of the linguistic groups and other residents of the CHT region.
Regarding the current temporary government’s formation, the adviser stated that its goal is to create a society free from all forms of discrimination. The government is working tirelessly to ensure that every citizen can live together by maintaining a living-standard based on equality, he added.
The delegation expressed a positive attitude towards the reform program undertaken by the Interim Government.
In the meeting, the delegation members apprised the advisor about the Australian Government’s various scholarships in the field of higher education.
The adviser thanked the delegation and drew attention to the positive steps taken by the Australian government to improve the quality of primary education in the country.
The delegation members are: First Secretary (Development) Syed Sajjad Haider and First Secretary (Political) Lara Adams.
Among others, CHT Ministry Additional Secretary Md Jahangir Alam was also present there.
