Dr Kamal suggests updating constitution

Today, renowned jurist and constitutional expert Dr. Kamal Hossain proposed amending the nation’s constitution.

When a group from the Constitution Reform Commission, headed by Professor Ali Riaz, paid him a courtesy call at his office in the capital’s Motijheel, he made the idea.

In 1972, Dr. Kamal was in charge of the Bangladesh Constituent Assembly’s Constitution Draughting Committee.

Md. Sabbir Mahmud, the public relations official in charge of the Constitutional Reform Commission (Deputy Director of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat), signed a statement today stating that “Dr. Kamal Hossain told the Constitution Reform Commission to update the constitution.”

Kamal Hossain welcomed the delegation and said he was confident in the constitutional change process.

He struck up a conversation with the delegation’s other members and the head of the commission.

According to the statement, the delegation included commission members Professor Sumaiya Khair, Barrister Imran Siddique, Professor Mohammad Ikramul Haque, Dr. Sharif Bhuiyan, Barrister M Moin Alam Ferozi, Feroze Ahmed, and Md Mustain Billah.
