BRAC Bank launches leadership programme for women

In order to equip its female employees for leadership roles, BRAC Bank has started a program for their professional and personal development.

“To prepare our female co-workers to take on new challenges and higher responsibilities, a cross-functional project team was formed to develop a comprehensive women’s leadership development framework with a detailed curriculum called Enlightened Leaders Exemplify Achievement (ELEA),” said a BRAC Bank statement today.

It stated that this ELEA program will include 25 aspirant women.

Using a 70:20:10 learning paradigm, they will be intensively groomed for a year through seminars, classroom training, cross-functional attachments, project work, and coaching and mentoring.

According to the statement, this diversified team, which was directed by Senior HR Business Partner Farhana Sharmin Sumi, brought together professionals from a range of disciplines, each of whom contributed special knowledge and abilities.

Their combined efforts have produced a comprehensive program aimed at empowering female coworkers by giving them the resources and chances they need to progress into leadership positions inside the bank.

The bank’s internal women’s forum, “TARA,” has adopted this step in partnership with HR to support them in maintaining their larger career goals in the face of office and home obligations that impede their advancement.

In front of the bank’s senior management team, participants, their coaches and mentors, and members of the project team, Managing Director and CEO Selim R. F. Hussain recently held a ceremony at the bank’s headquarters in Dhaka to formally launch the initiative.

According to Hussain, BRAC Bank constantly looks to launch new projects to advance women’s leadership at the top of the management hierarchy because it is a people-centric organisation.

“ELEA will equip our female colleagues with the new skills and acumen necessary for demanding senior management roles,” he said, adding, “We will continue to introduce such capacity-building programme so our female co-workers can add more value to their personal growth,” he added.

“This platform will provide our female colleagues with advanced knowledge and strategic insights that they can utilise in their respective roles,” stated Nurun Nahar Begum, Chief Technology Officer and Head of TARA Forum. They can advance their professional careers by using this platform as a launching pad.

According to BRAC Bank, the TARA Forum is essential to reaching the bank’s aim of becoming the most women-friendly in Bangladesh.

The forum’s goal is to help the organization’s female bankers advance their careers and achieve professional excellence. It makes information about occupations, homes, habits, and other aspects of women’s lives more easily accessible.
